FriendSwipeFile is a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Safari made by Aditya Perswal and brought to you by tryfriend.space. This page explains what it reads, what it keeps and how to delete it. The short version: it reads public ads on Meta's Ad Library, keeps only the ads you save, and knows your email address only if you sign in.

Where it runs

The extension runs on facebook.com/ads/library pages and on the tryfriend.space sign in page. It does nothing on any other site, and it works whether or not you are logged in to Facebook.

What it reads

On Ad Library pages it reads the public details Meta already shows for each ad: the Library ID, start date, live copies, placements, ad copy and links to the creative. It uses them to show the spend level. It does not read your Facebook account, messages or browsing history.

What it keeps when you click Save

The saved ad's public details and a copy of its images or video, so your swipe file still works after Meta removes the ad, plus the names of the folders you create. These are stored in your swipe file on Cloudflare.

Before you sign in

When you install the extension it creates a random key in your browser. Your swipe file is tied to that key, and the server stores only a one-way hash of it. There is no name, email address or phone number.

When you sign in

Sign in runs through WorkOS, which shares your email address and a user ID with FriendSwipeFile. The email shows who is signed in, and the ID joins the swipe files from every browser you sign in on into one. Your email is never used for marketing and never shared.

What stays in your browser

The weekly trend arrow compares live copy counts with what you saw before. Those counts are stored only in your browser and never leave it.

Who else handles the data

Cloudflare hosts the service and stores saved ads. WorkOS handles sign in. Nothing is sold, shared with advertisers or used to show you ads. The extension has no analytics or tracking.

Deleting your data

Use Delete my swipe file in the swipe file settings to remove every saved ad, its media and your folders right away. When you are signed in, this deletes the swipe file for every browser on your account. Signing out removes the account from that browser. A swipe file that has not been used for 12 months is deleted automatically.

Children

FriendSwipeFile is a tool for businesses and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too, and anything that affects saved data is announced in the extension first. Questions go to Adi@tryfriend.space.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use
